The third national Amateur Week will take place from 21 to 28 October 2006.

Amateur Theatre Week aims to encourage new audiences and new participants, and to raise the profile of amateur theatre, which includes community theatre companies, amateur dramatic and operatic societies, youth groups, schools, colleges and universities. It is estimated that around 500,000 people actively take part in amateur theatre, performing to audiences of 7.5 million.

The conclusion of Amateur Theatre Week coincides with Make A Difference Day on 28 October 2006, the UK's biggest celebration of volunteering, co-ordinated by Community Service Volunteers (CSV). Make A Difference Day will be notified of all events registered with Amateur Theatre Week.
